Ricard Viñes celebrated in Barcelona

To mark the 150th anniversary of Ricard Viñes's birth (1875-1943), the Museu de la Música de Barcelona is devoting an exhibition to the Catalan pianist who premiered some of Ravel's most essential works — from the Menuet antique (1898) to the Pavane pour une infante défunte, Jeux d'eau (1902), Miroirs (1906) and Gaspard de la nuit (1909).

The Orchestre de Paris, under the direction of Alain Altinoglu, gave the French premiere of the Prélude et Danse and of Scène I – Air de Manassès (soloist Léo Vermot-Desroches) from Sémiramis at the Philharmonie de Paris.

The luthéal on video

For the Ravel 2025 anniversary concert and the celebration of the centenary of L'Enfant et les sortilèges by the Théâtre royal de la Monnaie, the Musée des Instruments de Musique (MIM) in Brussels exceptionally agreed to lend its Luthéal (Piano Pleyel, Wolff, Lyon et Cie, Paris 1911 / Luthéal system by the Brussels organ builder Georges Cloetens, built 1919-1922).
